Total War: SHOGUN 2 1vs1: Takeda Fire Cavalry vs Yari Cavalry
Clan: Takeda vs Chosokabe
Battle Difficulty: normal
Player: Takeda Fire Cavalry
Takeda Fire Cavalry are most similar to Yari Cavalry, but with superior attack skill, armor, and much better defense. However, Takeda Fire Cavalry have an inferior charge to Takeda Yari Cavalry. Unlike Yari Cavalry, Takeda Fire Cavalry inspire nearby units in a fashion similar to generals. Despite their overall superiority, Takeda Fire Cavalry only cost slightly more to train and have the same upkeep costs as Yari Cavalry. Their requirements are very reasonable too, requiring only a basic stables as well as proving grounds, which are already conducive to training cavalry anyway.
Yari Cavalry are mid-late game cavalry, boasting a powerful charge bonus but only average melee stats. They replace light cavalry, being superior in nearly every way but at the cost of higher upkeep and recruitment costs. Their anti-cavalry bonus and high speed make them excellent for hunting down enemy cavalry, and their high charge bonus allow them to disrupt enemy formations with ease. However, like all cavalry, they are weak to anti-cavalry infantry, and are also highly susceptible to ranged attacks, particularly Fire Rockets. Two units of yari cavalry, along with a unit of Great Guard, are granted to any faction that becomes Shogun. This includes the Ikko Ikki, who normally don't have access to yari cavalry. When trained by the Date Clan, Yari Cavalry have +2 charge bonus. Takeda Yari Cavalry are cheaper to train and maintain (at 700/175 instead of 800/200), have +2 morale, +3 melee attack, +1 melee defence, and +5 charge bonus. They are slightly worse than Takeda Fire Cavalry in almost every way, but have a better charge bonus.
