In 2019 The New York Times Magazine put together “The 1619 Project”. This was to remind us that it was 400 years earlier that the first slaves landed in Virginia. This was an excellent history of slavery in America, but it was not the sum of American History. They said 1619 was the real start of America not 1776. My biggest criticism can be summed up in one word – Indians! Native Americans were here thousands of years earlier. But their history is not American History either, it is a part.
