As part of the celebrations of the beginning of Spring, in Kyoto, Japan, different festivals take place around the Buddhist Temples and Shinto Shrines.
In the Rozan-ji, a Buddhist Temple located on the east side of Kyoto's Imperial Garden, a special ceremony called Oni-Odori (Ogre's Dance) is performed.
Before and after the Ogre's Dance, people receive a blessing from one of the Oni (ogre) to cure parts of the body affected by pain or other conditions.
The Oni Odori itself, consists on the Oni entering the temple and then being driven away by the monks. This represents getting rid of bad spirits and bad things and allowing new fortune to get inside people houses and hearts.
