The October 1969 events in Chicago organized by the militant anti-war group the Weathermen (later, "Weather Underground") that were meant to "bring the war home" in a series of violent confrontations with police and damage to property. One of the leaders of the Weathermen was Bill Ayers, whose association with Barack Obama became an issue in the 2008 presidential campaign. This segment appeared on Chicago Tonight, on the Chicago PBS station WTTW. It includes an interview with Ayers, as well as with anti-war activists who opposed the violent tactics of the Weathermen. Also interviewed was Judge Richard Elrod, who was left paralyzed after a confrontation with a protester.
