Minecraft has published Snapshot 21w38a, the latest Java Edition snapshot for Minecraft 1.18 - the Caves & Cliffs Update Part 2.
This update adds Simulation Distance as an option for Java Edition, along with a few other technical changes. Sprinting has been tweaked for better quality of life, copper and lapis ores generate differently, and strongholds have been restored after generation issues in 21w37a!
We also look at what we can expect in upcoming snapshots, like the Deep Dark biome and the Warden mob, Bundles, and how old worlds will adapt to new terrain. The latest Bedrock Edition beta helps us understand Mojang's vision for blending old terrain with new caves and biome generation!
