Liver Cancer Early Warning Signs
Like other forms of cancer, liver cancer is hard to detect in the early stages because symptoms don't appear until the disease has progressed significantly.
However, there are screening tests available that reveal cancer before symptoms present themselves. Talk to your doctor about these.
Absent such screenings, the following signs and symptoms will begin to appear in those who have liver cancer.
* Upper abdominal pain, especially on the right side where the liver is located.
* Bumps or swelling on the right side under the lower ribs can indicate that the liver is becoming swollen.
* A condition known as ascites which produces a hard protruding abdomen due to a fluid buildup.
* Reduced appetite, which occurs because the swollen liver presses on the stomach, causing a feeling of fullness.
* Weight loss due to reduced food intake.
* Nausea and vomiting.
* Fatigue or a feeling of exhaustion, caused when cancer interferes with your metabolism and energy reserves.
.
* A yellow tint will appear in the skin and whites of the eyes -- a condition known as jaundice
* Chronic, widespread itching, resulting from bile accumulating in the body,
* Darker than normal urine
* Light colored stools that appear white or chalky.
