The complete experience of Hex The Legend Of The Towers. Featuring exterior, queue line, pre shows and on ride point of view.
Hex debuted as it opened on March 2000, it is a mix between a ride experience and stunning effects. The actual ride system is a custom design with themeing added by Alton Towers to tie in with the theme of the attraction. It is manufactured by Vekoma, mad house model. The attraction is based around a true legend of an oak tree which actually exists standing on the borders of Alton village. To this present day the oak stands chained up, the pre show tells a story of the curse, however some areas have been adjusted to suite the ride. Most of the attraction is set in the original Towers ruin (except the ride system) You first enter through the original main entrance which was used for the Earl, through into the queue line area. This was once a shop area and before then the armory section of the towers. Monitors are dotted around the queue area to entertain as a pre show to the attraction. Themeing is added in the queue area to invoke the atmosphere with the lights dimmed low.
You enter two pre show areas before entering the ride itself, the story section firstly with a projector to tell the tale. Automatic doors will open for you to proceed to the next area.
The Octagon room, which is an original section of the towers using the existing structure in the centre, this pre show uses special effects and queue line monitors. Effects such as lights dimming to a heart beat, lightning effects, wind & spark machines etc. You will soon enter the main ride system, after passing through through the apposed ancient book case where the fallen branch is said to be contained.You are seated in four sections (two each side) up to 78 rides can be contained in all of the seats for one ride cycle This area is seen as the vault where the fallen branch is said to be contained within. In the centre of the seating is the fallen branch itself, will the Earls tests and experiments banish the curse forever?
