Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) for Aphasia: Phase I pilot findings. Presentation by: William S. Evans, Ph.D., CCC-SLP.
“ACT for Aphasia” is a Level 2 stepped psychological care intervention intended for SLP primary providers with psychologist supervision. It combines counselling and communication strategy training in order to improve mental health and functional communication via a core focus on psychological flexibility. Development processes and pilot findings will be discussed.
William Evans, Ph.D., CCC-SLP, is an Associate Professor at the University of Pittsburgh in the Department of Communication Science and Disorders and the Clinical and Translational Science Institute. As an aphasia rehabilitation researcher, he seeks to develop more effective aphasia interventions by incorporating counselling principles, gamification, and adaptive computer-based training.
