(4 Mar 1963) Moomba is the Aborigines' word for "Happy Days" - and it's also Melbourne's name for the annual Festival. The "Music Bowl" featured in the celebrations, as the scene of a Royal concert in honour of the Queen's visit. Her Majesty and Prince Philip drive to the Town Hall in a searing heatwave - to watch the Moomba procession. The floats cost hundreds of pounds a piece and there were some thirty of them. Another Queen attended the parade. Long journey from the Nile to this City on the Yarra, but Cleopatra did it in style. A pageant of Australia - the wealth of its three million square miles - the colour and vitality of its people - which has been reflected in every facet of this exciting Royal Journey.
