Two of the area's biggest healthcare providers have officially finalized their plans to merge.
Both Naperville's and Elmhurst's mayors recently met to exchange gifts, recognizing the merger between Edward Hospital and Healthcare Services and Elmhurst Memorial Healthcare.
"We'll be able to exchange ideas and really continue to provide excellent services in a local area so the people do not have to go downtown. The excellent quality of care will be right here in these lovely suburban settings," said Pam Davis, current Edward Hospital President.
Davis will serve as the CEO of the new healthcare system, which has yet to be named.
"I feel just a huge sense of energy to this next step in my life. It comes at a time with healthcare reform. I love solving complex problems and working with innovative ideas and change," said Davis.
Combined, the two organizations create a three hospital healthcare system, Edward, Elmhurst Memorial and Linden Oaks at Edward, with more than 50 locations, a combined revenue of $1 billion, and nearly 7,600 employees with more than 1,600 physicians.
