At this time of year I am invariably playing a number of holiday gigs and find myself re-learning all of the traditional songs that I forgot from last year. For fun, I enjoy trying different arrangements and applying different styles of playing to keep things interesting. My apologies to anyone who prefers their holiday music played with more of a traditional approach and for you I suggest the great tutorial by 7notemode here: [ Ссылка ]
One aspect of the phenomenal style of McCoy Tyner is his amazing ability to incorporate the use of pentatonic scales while playing through a series of chord changes. This unmistakable "McCoy" sound is very pleasing to my ears and I enjoy playing in this style. CAUTION: This video is very heavy with the use of pentatonics in order to help with the learning of this style. Use this technique prudently in an actual performance.
