A mild problem can always be corrected with braces but if we have decided on orthognathic surgery, it can be divided into 4 stages. The first is preliminary stage where before doing orthodontic treatment, we can do a procedure like any extraction has to be done or tissue management can be taken place in first stage. The second stage, where an orthodontic treatment is performed and this might be for 4 to 6 months. The third stage is surgical procedure where the jaw correction can be done using the help of oral and maxillofacial surgeon. The last stage is corrective stage where the finer adjustments of the tooth crowding or to get a better occlusion, 4 to 6 months of orthodontic can be done.
