Beginning Monday at the Oaklawn Cemetery in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the city along with the University of Oklahoma and the Oklahoma Archaeological Survey will conduct a test excavation at a site as part of the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre Graves Investigation. Researchers believe the site has the potential to be the location where African American victims from the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre are buried. The test site was chosen based on oral histories passed down and results from ground-penetrating radar that discovered an anomaly. International Edition host Steve Miller spoke with Scott Ellsworth, a professor in the Department of Afro-American and African Studies at the University of Michigan and part of the dig team about the project.
