That's the message from the world's top experts in Artificial Intelligence, who released the following statement overnight: "Mitigating the risk of extinction from AI should be a global priority alongside other societal-scale risks such as pandemics and nuclear war."
It comes after last month's plea from hundreds of leaders in the field, calling for a pause in the technology's development to allow time for governments to catch up.
