I've been threatening for a while, so here we are at last: how to play the American destroyers. Let's continue down the line with Tier VIII's USS Benson.

Benson brings more capability than Mahan: her main battery improves, her AA improves, her speed improves, her stealth improves. Unfortunately, she begins to see MUCH more difficult matchmaking, and it impacts how quickly you can advance through the ship. If she had better torpedoes she'd be more comfortable, but these torpedoes are basically the same ones Mahan carries on a worse reload. (Then again, if she had better torpedoes, she'd be Fletcher.) In this video I'll talk about how I build my Benson, why I fit her out that way, how I recommend playing her, and follow all of that up with a game demonstrating the ship in action.
