Solar eclipses are not really common events -- it doesn't happen so often that the moon overshadows the sun... Long time ago, these sudden astronomical phenomenons caused fear and anxiety. Nowadays the planetary orbits can be predicted very precisely - so the solar eclipse on November 3rd, commencing at exactly 10:04:34 Universal Time, shouldn't be a surprise for anybody.
But Europeans must hurry up now if they want to join the spectacle: It begins at the East Coast at sunrise as partial eclipse and continues in direction of the Atlantic Ocean. Totality will be reached shortly before the African continent and last for 1 minute and 40 seconds -- until the year 3264 (!) none of the future hybrid solar eclipses will exceed this maximum.
What a shame that the weather forecast is not really ideal to watch the solar eclipse from the mainland: The yearly monsoon season in Gabon, Kongo and Uganda rarely allows a clear look to the sky.
But the weather shouldn't be a reason to give solar eclipses a miss: At Framepool.com we have a great variety of marvelous impressions -- at any weather, any place and any time.
