Today, Colorado Symphony musicians and their family members honor our nation’s heroes with a song, arranged by Teddy Niedermaier, that reminds us of the unmatched beauty of this country. The lyrics by Katherine Lee Bates were inspired by a trip to Colorado’s own Pikes Peak in 1893:

O beautiful for spacious skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties
Above the fruited plain!
