Hey guys, in this video I discuss how to build rapport quickly with your placement team so you can leverage their relationships and not only learn more but get a better mark.

3 tips to establish quick rapport with your team on placement
- 1st tip is to learn everyone’s names, it shows you care and pay attention. Crucial element of developing a relationship is listening to the other persons story. They will feel much more close to you and make an effort for you once you’ve taken an interest in them. It’s the same with patients – saying their name whilst speaking to them will make feel so much more closer to you // Dale Carnegie quote – most sweetest sound to another persons ears is their name.
- Spend time speaking and engaging with your educator during down time – lunch, breaks. Ask as many questions about whatever you want (physio related & non physio related) as long as they are appropriate!
- If your team invites you out for a night out or evening out which has happened to me, I advise you to take it, just go for the fun of it, don’t worry about revising etc. An informal setting will be a chance for you guys to get to know each other a lot better.
- Lastly make sure to bring some form of goodies on the last day of placement – this usually helps give you an added boost to your placement marks at the end of you are graded on your placement as it leaves the educator with a positive impression.
