DUTA requests for deferment of exams, alternate evaluation method for final-year students
DUTA has asked the DU administration to consider alternate evaluation methods for final year students amid the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic.
he Delhi University Teachers’ Association (DUTA) has asked the administration of the varsity to seek alternate methods for the evaluation of final year students this year and the deferment of the examinations in view of the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic.

In 2020, Delhi University evaluated the first- and second-year students on the basis of their internal assessment and their performance in the previous semester. DUTA is urging the university to consider these methods for the evaluation of final-year students as well.

The varsity had opted for an online open-book examination for the final-year postgraduate and undergraduate students, despite opposition from students and teachers. No final dates for the conduction of the exams have been issued yet.
Students are asking the administration to consider the cancellation of examinations for all the students this year due to the unparalleled situation caused by the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, though no such announcement has been made by Delhi University.

DUTA’s letter to Vice-Chancellor
In a letter addressed to acting vice-chancellor P C Joshi, the DUTA said that considering the damage caused by the second wave of Covid-19, the university should review its decision regarding examinations.
