In Uganda,Malewa refers to a traditional dish made from smoked bamboo shoots, which is a specialty of the Bagisu (or Gisu) people of the eastern region, particularly around Mount Elgon. you might be asking yourself how Malewq tastes....this is what I think...it tastes like mushrooms just that malewa has hard fibers...and it can easy be mistaken for a piece of meat...
