At the Brown’s household, Cedric Brown (Colin Firth) is meeting with Aunt Adelaide (Angela Lansbury) who’s demanding custody of one of the children. The sweet Evangeline, maid at the place, pretends to be one of the children and offers to go.

In an attempt to tame his seven noisy, ill-behaved children who have managed to drive away all previous nannies, widower Cedric Brown (Oscar Winner Colin Firth) asks governess Nanny McPhee (Oscar Winner Dame Emma Thompson) to come to the rescue. Using magic and mystical powers, this peculiar woman enters the household in which she will have to deal with Simon (Thomas Sangster) and mischievous siblings. When the possibility of their separation is being considered by their great-aunt Adelaide (Angela Lansbury), the whole family tries to work together, hand in hand with Nanny McPhee to try to avoid that.
