Day 1 - Tokyo
What a day it was. Got up at 4:30 AM . Changed 3 bus & 3 trains for Hotel -Disneyland-return , one wrong train, ran like crazy to catch the last bus to Hotel , and loads of priceless memories in Disneyland.
Day 2 in Tokyo
Realised that you enjoy a lot if you have an attitude of “we will figure it out come what may”. So amazing to step out and see new culture , people , language , food , roads and everything. Visited Genki Sushi on Conveyer Belt.
Day 3 & 4 in Yamanaka Ko
We were leaving fast paced Tokyo and reaching country side Yamanaka ko. It is famous for its Lake Yamanaka and Mt Fuji view. From Shibuya , we took a bus to Yamanaka Ko. It took us around 3 hours from Tokyo to Yamanaka Ko.
Day 5 in Hakone
1. Checked out from Yamanaka ko . We changed 2 buses (Not covered in JR pass) to reach Gora station Hakone.
2. Owakudani is a volcanic valley with active sulfur vents and hot springs in Hakone. It was created around 3000 years ago as a result of the Hakone Volcano. Its called 'The Boiling Valley'.
Day 6 in Hakone & Fuji Safari Park
We went to Fuji Safari Park. It’s a jungle safari where Animals roam around free and we were in a caged bus. There were mixed reviews on internet but we loved this place.Fares are generally exempted for children below 6 years in Bus/Train and hotels in Japan. However our guest house in Hakone charged extra for Avika.
And there is 1500 yen entry ticket for children in Fuji Safari Park. And 1300 per person charge for bus Safari inside the park.
Safari bus in Fuji Safari Park are animal shaped which adds to the excitement.
Day 7 & 8 in Nagoya
Hakone to Nagoya is around 269 Km and takes 2.5 hours by Shinkansen. From mountains we travelled to third largest city in Japan. It is an underrated metropolis and most Japanese haven’t seen it yet. They consider it as most boring city. We tend to disagree. We went to Osu shopping district. It has more than 2000 outlets for affordable shopping.
Day 9 in Takayama
We loved Takayama so much that we can stay here forever.
We checked out from Nagoya and took a direct train for Takayama. Train journey by bullet train was so scenic that can’t be described in words. Distance of 157 Km, we left city life and reached a small town in the mountains. Takayama is famous for its old wooden houses, crafts shop, art galleries and Sake breweries and it retains an old world charm. A place to discover away from the hustle and bustle of the big cities. Takayama situated practically in the center of Japan in Gifu Prefecture, is nestled in a beautiful valley. Called the "Little Kyoto of the Japanese Alps" because of its grid-like streets.
Day 10 & 11 in Takayama
If you have ever visited Trade Fair in Pragati Maidan Delhi and loved complimentary anardana goli and other stuff to taste, then don't waste much time and come to Takayama. There are shops after shops in street offering different type of rice crackers, chocolates, dried apple/plum, japanese sweets and cakes etc. Just be careful and avoid eating dried octopus.
Day 12 & 13 in Kanazawa
From Mountain view Takayama , we came to Beach facing Komaiko near Kanazawa. We stayed 16 Km farther from the main city coz we really liked the Woody's - Airbnb duplex log house.
Takayama to Kanazawa is around 130 Km and we took around 2 hours to reach. Was fascinated to operate Japanese gadgets with Instructions in Local language like TV, DVD, PlayStation, Gas stove, Automated bathing system, Washing maching and Toilet seat.
Day 14 in Kyoto
Kyoto ranks with Paris, London and Rome as one of those cities that everyone should see atleast once in their lives.
Day 16 in Nara Deer park
Nara is 40 Minutes by JR train and a perfect day trip from Kyoto or Osaka.
Day17 in Kyoto
Day 18 & 19 in Kyoto/Tokyo
We took a Shinkansen train from Kyoto to Tokyo. Kyoto station is like an airport.
