The first storm will arrive in the Northeast overnight Thursday, with one to three inches of snow expected in New York City, while the bigger second storm could dump up to seven inches on Sunday. 'Freezing rain, heavy snow, and heavy rain are expected in association with the storm system through the central and eastern U.S. over the next few days,' the National Weather Service said in a flash bulletin on Thursday. 'Some thunderstorms will also be possible across the Gulf Coast region. Heavy snow will begin by Friday evening over the central plains and then progress eastward by the weekend.'
