A viral tweet quickly got the attention of the United States Postal Service Sunday suggesting absentee ballots cast in favor of Donald Trump were being sabotaged.
The post office received complaints that a man who claimed to be a worker in Columbus, Ohio, tweeted images of ballots he said were being put in the dumpster.
The tweet turned out to be nothing but a hoax.
Investigators said the tweets did not come from a postal worker in Ohio and, in fact, the person is known for Twitter jokes. For starters, a quick look at his profile indicates he actually resides in California.
The Ohio Secretary of State's Office said absentee ballots are enclosed in secure envelopes, so postal workers do not know who you are voting for without opening the envelope.
