Washington's Headquarters at Valley Forge is just West of Philadelphia and is a definite stop when in the area. The winter encampment of the Colonial Army has been protected by the National Park Service as a National Historical Park.

The park has a very thorough museum along with various interpretive programs. The kids enjoyed earning their junior ranger badges as well as seeing the history of the park.
