(24 Jan 2022) CLAIRE FOY, CARA DELEVINGNE AND ROSAMUND PIKE ATTEND THE DIOR HAUTE COUTURE SHOW IN PARIS
Under a sunny winter sky Monday afternoon at the Musée Rodin in Paris, things almost felt normal again as Dior held an in-person haute couture show on Monday (24 JANUARY 2022) attended by Rosamund Pike, Cara Delevingne, Claire Foy and more.
The foundation of couture is craftsmanship, and Dior's creative director for womenswear, Maria Grazia Chiuri, is known for blurring the lines between craft and art. The walls of the venue were hung with artworks by Indian artists Madhvi and Manu Parekh, rendered in embroidery by Mumbai's Chanakya Atelier.
Embroidery was key to this collection. Chiuri wanted to present it as a three-dimensional "conceptual act" that gives fabric structure while interacting with material and the surrounding air. Embroidered tights were a signature item worn with different pieces, from a grey suit to evening dresses.
The show opened with a crystal-embroidered bodysuit, and included elegant cashmere coats, pleated skirts under structured coats, long silk dresses with draped backs, a grey wool day dress, a strapless tulle dress embroidered with silver tulle and crystal beads, an embroidered fishnet jumpsuit, and capes that filled many in the front row with desire.
