After years of imprisonment and appeals, Julian Assange has left the UK after agreeing to a plea deal with US authorities. The Wikileaks founder was facing extradition to the US over the publication of hundreds of thousands of classified military documents, detailing America's wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Instead, he'll plead guilty to a single criminal charge in a US court in Saipan, in the North Mariana Islands in the western Pacific, allowing him to walk free and return to Australia as a convicted felon.
