On an epic family visit to Rome (three generations of us on the trip!), my son asked for Fettucine Alfredo. We found the birthplace of Fettucine Alfredo! The restaurant where this pasta dish was invented (by Alfredo de Lelio in the early part of the 1900s) is still in operation in Rome! de Lelio is called the "Emporer of Fettucine!" The fettuccini alfredo was like none I have ever tasted. It was amazing!! There are photos all over the walls of various celebrities who have frequented the home of Fettucine Alfredo over the years. They present it with a flourish and also serve their own wine!
