I hope you'll enjoy this wistful and sweet piece by French composer, Erik Satie, the third of his “Trois Gymnopedie.” These were composed for solo piano, and while they are relatively simple technically, they are deceptively difficult in terms of phrasing; and for wind players, difficult in terms of air management. For me, they really call to mind a rainy spring day. The marking at the beginning, “lent et grave,” translates to “slow and serious,” and that seems quite apropos.
