Three-year-old Lily Moyers, currently in remission from pediatric leukemia, has donated her cells to the lab of Northwestern University scientist Ali Shilatifard, who is using her cells in his research to develop a “super drug” to treat the disease.
Lily’s disease—the type Shilatifard researches—is often fatal. Shilatifard hopes to develop a permanent cure in the next 5 to 8 years. ____
