WOJTEK PAWLUSIAK from Poland is the winner of the second Carnival Snowboard Session. This is his first time in Croatia and he said that he is stoked about this event and will definitely come back next year. Pawlusiak took home 1000 Euro prize money, provided by our main sponsor, City of Rijeka. The winner's check was awarded by Rijeka's mayor Vojko Obersnel who mentioned that the city will always support new ideas, and that they look forward to an even bigger setup next year.
LOZIO DIMITROV is one of the three young Bulgarian riders. He took home 500 Euro, presentend by the director of Rijeka's Tourist Board, Petar Skarpa. Dimitrov said he is very happy with the hospitality of the organizers and the city of Rijeka. All Bulgarians were particularly pleased with the fact that Rijeka is the residence of Croatia's top athletes Janica Kostelic and Ana Jelusic. All Bulgarian riders finished in high places (2., 4. and 6.), and Dimitrov pointed out that this is the result of good organization of snowboard parks in Bulgaria.
BALASZ TAKACS from Hungary finished in 3. place. He is already familiar with Rijeka's people, as he is last year's winner of Carnival Snowboard Session. He took home 200 Euro, presented by Miki Toskic, head organizer of the CSS. VID BARIC, the top placed Croatian, came in 7. place. He was thrilled to be in the finals with so many top European riders, and proud of the people of Rijeka who supported all the Croatian riders during the contest Mr. Petar Skarpa said he is proud of this event, and that CSS has become a true brand of Rijeka, as this is the only Mediterranean city to host such a snow event in the city centre.
The riders were competing on four different obstacles, and were judged by head judge Iztok Sumatic from Slovenia, a well-renowned snowboard judge (official World Cup and World Junior Championship judge).
The assistant judge was Ante Pasalic from Zagreb, snowboard editor of skijanje.hr magazine.
This year, several prizes were provided for the audience. Three of the luckiest spectators walked away with valuable gifts from our sponsors Warehouse and Ri-Fun.
The biggest prize was a snowboard. This year's TV partners were six local TV networks: Kanal Ri Rijeka, TV Jadran Split, Z1 Zagreb, VTV Varazdin, Slavonska TV Osijek and NETTV Kutina.
All of the mentioned networks will broadcast a half-hour documentary about Carnival Snowboard Session, produced by Pavela PR agency. Some of the media partners we'd like to mention also are: INDEX.hr, Sportske Novosti, Primorski radio, Plan B, Novi List, SKIJANJE.hr, IZLASCI.net and BOARDFORCE.net. As last year, the biggest sponsors of the event are the City of Rijeka, Primorsko-goranska Zupanija, Rijeka Tourist Board and the Rijeka Carnival. We are proud of this year's Honorary Presidents of the event; Vojko Obersnel, Mayor of Rijeka, and Petar Skarpa, director of Rijeka Tourist Board. The well-renowned club Palach was also an important place for this event. The PRESS center was stationed there, will all the neccessary info for media representatives.
The official after-party with Rijeka's Balance Crew DJ's was also held there.
