Sedimentation concentration technique, unlike flotation techniques, uses solution of lower specific gravity than the parasite eggs or cysts, thus concentrating the latter in the sediment. It can be used for separation of protozoan cysts or oocysts and helminth eggs and larvae from stool samples. In this demonstration video, we’ll be using it to recover parasites eggs, cysts, or oocysts from vegetables or crops possibly in contact with feces-contaminated soil.
