Apple have thrown Facebook under the bus in an attempt to save themselves, forcing Facebook to dig their own grave.
So lets go over this drama
Apple is a company with a market cap of more than 2 trillion, It is a true titan one of the largest companies in the world and when a company gets to this size survival stops being as much about profit and loss and becomes more about politics.
Apple have faced massive scrutiny lately over anti-competitive behaviour to do with repair and control over the app store
So to distract the public and try to take themselves out of the spotlight.
They threw a bone to get the public back on their side and Facebook helped massively.
Now why would Facebook who have had enough trouble in the past with user privacy stand up publicly against this.
Well the obvious reason is that their business runs off user data, the more they know about you the more accurately they can advertise to you.
They know that coming out publicly against this doesn’t help their image to the public and it wouldn’t stop apple making this change. So why?
Apples main source of revenue comes from products sold to people like me and you.
Facebook on the other hand main source of revenue comes from businesses paying to advertise to people like me and you.
They need to be seen standing up for the small businesses who pay for advertising on their platform and reassure them that apples policy changes will not affect the performance of their advertising.
But Apple made Facebook stand up for its customers shifting the public backlash from them to Facebook.
Although there is a lot more transparency with it there is a lot of potential ways for Facebook to get around it.
