What about Romania during WW II? Fascism also rose in Romania. The most notorious far-right movement was the Iron Guard (Garda de fier). The Molotov–Ribbentrop Pact (1939) caused the Soviet occupation of Bessarabia and Northern Bukovina. It was also very determined for the history of Moldova. It led to Romania joining the Axis powers, led by fascist leader Ion Antonescu. Half a million Romanian Jews perished in the Holocaust.
