Doctors in Syria are under siege and targeted, a UN Human Rights Council side event has heard.
“We know inside Syria that the health workers are the most targeted people. Sometimes they are more targeted than military, than the soldiers because the presence of health services is so important to life. If there are no health services, everything will stop,” Abdurrahman Alomar, a Syrian paediatrician, working in Aleppo has said.
The Syrian doctor who addressed the side event titled: “Prevention of child mortality and human rights: an unfinished agenda, decried the dwindling number of health professionals in the war-torn country.
