Each year as the warm temperatures arrive, we are all so excited to get our houseplants out into the sun, transplant our seedlings, purchase plants from nurseries and take our overwintered plants out of the garage or shed. But if you do so hastily, this can wreak havoc on your plants' foliage. That's why we need to undertake a process called Hardening Off our plants every spring so we can help our plants prepare to be outside for the rest of the summer growing season.
In this video I explain exactly what Hardening Off is, what type of plants should be hardened off, and then I go through a day by day schedule that is easy to follow. And by following my schedule, you can rest assured your plants will assimilate perfectly well to the outdoor garden without skipping any beats, and without getting any sun scald or sun burn. Be sure to harden off your tomato, cucumber, pepper seedlings, any houseplants you are taking outside like Monstera or Philodendron, any overwintering Geranium, and any new plants purchased that have been growing under greenhouse plastic! #gardening #plants #garden
