In a huge sigh of relief, the Indian Meteorological Department has forecasted a normal monsoon in India. According to the IMD, rainfall during the southwest monsoon season or between June to September is likely to be 96% of the Long Period Average. IMD's forecast comes close on the heels of Skymet's prediction of 'below normal' monsoon this year. But this is not the first time that the IMD and Skymet have differed in their monsoon forecasts.
