We have an advantage in South Carolina that many graziers don't have: our cattle can be on green grass in the winter! We don't usually put all of our animals on this young, tender grass all at once, but this group of about 30 head gets to have the best grass on the farm for a while. The warmer winter days allow this winter annual pasture to grow and provide high quality forage for our cattle closest to slaughter.
