In this vlog I am taking you guys on a day hiking adventure to Grinnell Glacier in Glacier National Park, Montana. We entered the park from east side through the Many Glaciers entrance in the morning around 9:00 am and managed to get a parking spot on road side. The parking lot fills up quick and make sure you reach the trail head as early as possible to snag a spot for your vehicle.
We were a group of friends and started the trail around 9:30 AM. The first lake you'll encounter is Swiftcurrent lake, on the other side of the trailhead there is Many Glacier Hotel and Swiss Lounge, where you can grab drinks after hiking.
As you start ascending, leaving the forest cover behind, the next lake you'll encounter is, Lake Josephine. I believe there is a ferry which hauls people across the lake to other trails, we didn't have the time to explore that part and continued to head up to Grinnell glacier. There are a lot of small streams that you'll come across which are basically the melting snow and end up in these lakes. As you can see in this video, these streams wash off the dirt to reveal colorful pebbles and rocks underneath. These mesmerizing, colorful pebble rocks are found all across Glacier NP in water bodies.
Unfortunately the last 1.5 miles of the hike was closed due to grizzly bear activity and we decided to turn around. Found a good place with the view of Lower Grinnell lake and had lunch. We carried backpacking freeze dried meals with us. Overall it was an amazing experience to hike between glaciers, wild flowers and cyan blue lakes. It was one of the most beautiful places I have ever visited in my life and would definitely come back one day to backpack in the many glaciers valley.
