Watch part one of our fantastic five-day trip exploring the West Coast of Scotland in Sept 2021. We start In Ardrossan, known for its ferry link to the Isle of Arran. In the summer season, it also connects the mainland to Campbeltown on the southern end of the Kintyre Peninsula. This link was essential for us to make a great Mountain biking adventure, Bikepacking over Islands and coastal paths in a huge loop. We call it the Five Ferries Mountain Bike Tour
There is a well known road cycling 100-mile route called the Five Ferries, which can be achieved in a day. This was part of our inspiration and so we sought out off-road alternatives to some of the road sections of this route and added in the Kintyre Way. We have always wanted to ride the Kintyre Way and to visit the island of Gigha. We tried in 2019 but we were early in the season and had to abandon after 3 days due to the weather. So last year we set again out to see if it's possible to circumnavigate Arran by following tracks and trails, beaches and ferries!

The video was made using a Go-Pro 8 a Sony RX100 mk1 and photos from our smartphones. We didn't specifically stop to film. Everything was captured on the move with no second takes or scripting. What you see is a fly-on-the-wall fun video documenting our trip.
