There are 16,777,216 colors available in the RGB color model. Out of those, there are 2 every designer knows. Using pure black and pure white in your work can be a great decision. But it can also make things difficult to read, bother users and provide a poor user experience (UX).
There’s no denying that properly choosing colors is an important decision in graphic design. Just like with other colors, using black and white should definitely be a thought-out one, however. There are many alternatives to just a harsh pure black, ranging from very dark grays to darks with a hint of color in them, which can fit your color scheme beautifully. If you would prefer to keep your color purely black and switch out the pure white, which can also be a very sensible course of action, a gentle gray is an amazing alternative.
You won’t find many use cases of a pure black when you’re browsing major websites or apps. It’s a very small decision that can have a very positive or negative impact on your work. Choose wisely.
