Overland Expedition using a Land Rover Defender 110 and two Land Rover Discovery's where a group of veterans make their way from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean through the Spanish Pyrenees.
We left Camping Ribera del Ara. [ Ссылка ] and followed the N-260 to Torla-Ordesa in the province of Huesca, Aragon, Spain. It is in the northwest of the Sobrarbe region, 100 km from the capital of Huesa.
Torla is in the glacial valley of the River Ara, after the confluence of the valleys of Bujaruelo and Ordesa. The Ara is said to be the only river of any importance in Spain that is not dammed by the human hand throughout its 70 km course to its confluence with the River Cinca in Ainsa.
Torla borders France but lacks a road connection with it and is a gateway to the Ordesa y Monte Perdido National Park in the valley of Ordesa, and to Valle de Broto and the location was a great way to start our day.
Due to the area being so beautiful with many tracks, we decided to explore the area for the day around the River Ara following the N-260 and when possible, crossing the river over small bridges into the surrounding hills and tracks and on to the abandoned ghost town of Janovas that was the victim of political failures and was abandoned between 1960 and 1970 although there seems to be some work being done to redevelop the town.
We continued to cross the river many times using many tracks and then onto the magnificent scenic A-1604 with great views over the mountains.
