Heel Pain is a common complaint in a clinician where the patient presents to us with severe pain around the heel and sometimes pan is very severe early in the morning when they get up for the bed or get up from the sitting down posture. Some of the common causes for Heel Pain are the development of extra bone around the calcaneum, called as the calcaneal spur which inturn leads to an inflammation around the plantar facsia called as the plantar fasciitis. The reason for this is unknown, however patients do have pain and they can be managed conservatively by change of foot ear, use of microcellular rubber footwear, anti-inflammatory, res, ice pack application and physiotherapy. Occasionally a severe Heel Pain may be considered for a local infiltration of a steroid injection. A very resistant case of a heel pain can be treated surgically.
