Gov. Gavin Newsom visited the site of the 698-square-mile Dixie Fire on Saturday as the blaze continued to grow into the single largest wildfire in California history. Newsom spent the day in Greenville, surveying damage from the monstrous fire and discussing ongoing firefighting efforts. The fire, which has raged for 24 days and burned over 446,723 acres, has left at least eight people missing. The number is up from the Friday's 434,813 and surpasses the vast Bootleg Fire in southern Oregon. There were 8,489 firefighters battling 10 major wildfires and 44 new wildfires in the state on Saturday, that have burned a combined total of over 842,598 acres.
