While members of the Spanish government were trying to create a faster system to take in refugees from Ukraine, African asylum seekers at the border with Morocco were beaten by police. Some of the migrants had to be taken away on stretchers.
Spain’s public ombudsman said that the border police should have respected the migrants’ rights, regardless of status.
