Understanding abstract nouns is a complex subject to teach and to illustrate. This video links abstract nouns to students’ prior knowledge of basic, tangible nouns. It provides examples of events, emotions, and ideas with related visual imagery. This video provides supported practice exercises in identifying both concrete nouns and abstract nouns in simple sentence structures. These supported exercises attach new knowledge to the students’ existing framework of knowledge, providing new strategies laced with a comprehensive review.
I’ve created an entire series of teaching videos to explain the components of English Language
Arts in a way that connects them to each other and to real world reading, speaking, and writing. The links for the videos in order are below. Please look for my other videos and share them with others that may find them helpful.
