Gioacchino Rossini had relevant connections with Spain. In 1831 he was appointed “Maestro Honorario” of the Madrid conservatory. Through his marriage to famous soprano Isabela Colbran, who was also the virtuosic protagonist of a few of his Operas, he became acquainted with Spain’s music. Gioacchino Rossini "Canzonetta spagnola" was composed in 1821 for his wife Isabella Colbran , after that he wrote many pieces in this style.
