Building altars or shrines dedicated to your favorite roleplaying game gods is the focus of this GameSmith tutorial. We are focusing on the gods of the Pathfinder RPG, such as Desna, Gorum, Sarenrae, Shelyn. In this scatter terrain tutorial video we are going to focus on building an altar (or shrine) to Erastil for your game table. While these decorative scatter terrain pieces showcase the pantheon from the Pathfinder Roleplaying game, the techniques shared in this tutorial can be adapted to any campaign setting including those in Dungeons and Dragons or Warhammer 40k. The altars (or shrines) could be used to provide a bonus to characters, or perhaps the location has to be defended against an onslaught of marauders while some ritual is completed, or even act as the entrance to an other worldly destination.

The center piece of the shrines or altars is made from foam board which can be engraved with almost any image you want in order to create a focus for an encounter. Made with cheap and abundant materials, these altars are a great terrain piece for novice tabletop crafters to start with. From all of us here at TheGameSmith, we hope you enjoy the video!
