Hi, welcome to my art channel. In this video I briefly review the set of 4 Ron Ranson hake brushes by Pro Arte, and look at an original Ron Ranson watercolour to see how he used the hake.
I use hake brushes most of the time when painting these days. I purchased the set online, far cheaper than buying the brushes individually.
The large hake brush was introduced to mainstream painting by Ron Ranson, who's big brush, fast & loose watercolour style was and still is very popular and beautiful because of Ron's approach, no fiddling with small brushes or getting bogged down with unnecessary detail, using the least amount of brushstrokes possible to achieve an impression simply and cleanly, and simplifying scenes for greater impact.
The original watercolour painting by Ron Ranson shown here was almost completely painted with the large Hake brush, and here I try to show briefly how Ron used the hake to obtain certain types of effects and brushstrokes, which you can see very clearly in the painting, simply beautiful, loose and transparent.
