“Piano Sketches”.
One of the most inspiring traits of being a composer nowadays is the endless possibilities for collaboration and working together with other creative minds. This is something we often neglect especially when we’re presented with tools that allow us to stay hidden in our control rooms and create music (I know, guilty as charged!). But this has always been a driving force for me - working with different people that have the same creative impulse that I do, experimenting on the go, creating something unusual and unique. A few years ago when I created my first album entirely for myself (“Birth of a flower”), I became hooked to the idea of doing something interesting and new just for the sake of… music itself. This created the idea for “Piano Sketches”, which was an album revolving around the idea of having multiple piano parts interlock into the same arrangement, something similar to orchestrating but just for piano. Of course this also changed during the course of time, but from the first note I “sketched” for this project only one name stayed in my head - Dimitar Gorchakov, a brilliant pianist, composer, improviser working in the fields of jazz, electronica, folklore. I couldn’t be happier when he agreed to perform my music. Having a musician of that caliber play your music is a sublime feeling!
